Reclaimed Antique Heart Pine

The terms 'antique heart pine' and 'reclaimed heart pine' refer to wood that is over 100 years old. Typically, this type of pine is wood recovered from old homes, barns or other structures. The word 'heart' is applied to wood from the center of the tree; these planks have aged naturally over time enriching them with a patina impossible to replicate in a new wood product.

Longleaf Heart Pine

Longleaf Heart Pine is a pine cut from hand-selected tracts. Longleaf is beautiful choice for heart pine; the wood is rich, dense and imparts unmistakable character to a home. The wood from longleaf pine is strong, durable and ages beautifully. Longleaf heart pine is available in three grades:

  • Select: The tightest grain with 75-100% heart content with the least number of knots.
  • Colonial (Mixed Grain): More frequent knots, contains 75 – 100% heart pine planks.
  • Cabin: A selection that includes 50 – 80% heart pine with larger knots.

Vertical Grain Pine

The milling method with vertical grain is factor with vertical grain; the wood begins as other planks, but is sawn so the growth rings are perpendicular to the flooring wear surface. Because of the strength and durability of vertical grain, this treatment is selected for high traffic areas in the home or in commercial settings.

Pre-finished flooring offers a convenience customers enjoy; the installation process is quicker due to the finish being complete prior to home delivery.
